AT THE MURDER SCENE

HELP US
TO FIND
THE KILLER!!!!

FOLLOWING THE CLUES,
ENTER THE PUZZLING WORLD
OF THE CRIME.

THE FIRST CLUE

At the murder scene the killer has left a written paper with the following words:

"HE WAS MORE CLEVER THAN ME, RICHER THAN ME, MORE GENEROUS THAN ME, TALLER THAN ME, MORE HANDSOME, SMARTER, MORE SELF-CONFIDENT, HE DRESSED BETTER THAN ME, HE SPOKE BETTER THAN ME; IF YOU THINK THAT THESE ARE EXCUSES, YOU ARE SILLY. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT ABOUT HOW TO GET RID OF HIM. I MADE A MISTAKE POISONING HIM: HE SUFFERED TOO MUCH. I AM SORRY ABOUT IT. I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED HE HAD DIED QUICKLY."

THE SUSPECTS

AT THE MURDER SCENE THERE WERE:
  • THE VICTIM: Angus Frank, who has just inherited the family business and so he has just become his ex-colleagues' boss. He is an unfair and ruthless boss.
  • THE ELDEST BROTHER: he would have inherited the family business, but his brother has taken it over. He is known for being unable to do anything important, especially business, and he is a timewaster
  • THE YOUNGEST BROTHER: the victim made him come back home from an exclusive college, because he is required to work for the family business, and to earn enough to pay for his expensive desires.
  • FRIENDS: envious about their friends' wealth, they often asked him to help them pay their debts, but he didn't want to lend his money
  • THE LAWYER: the victim discovered he stole a large amount of money from the business. Mr Frank has sworn to tell the police everything and to get him expelled from the Lawyers Group
  • THE EXFIANCE': she hoped to become Mrs Frank, but he left her as soon as he inherited the family business. Now she has to work to live, instead of being a rich woman
  • EX-COLLEAGUES: they hate Frank, because he became a ruthless and unfair boss
  • THE HOUSEMAID: she knows everything about what happens in the house, she is a busy-body
  • THE BUTLER: he has known his boss since he was young, he knows everything about Frank and his family

THE PROJECT: the inspiration and the aims.

THE QUOTE WHICH OPENS THE MAIN PAGE IS A PASSAGE FROM "EXEMPLARY CRIMES", WRITTEN BY MAX AUB. HE WAS A SPANISH AUTHOR BORN IN 1903 AND DIED IN 1972.
HE WAS A NOVELIST, A PLAYWRIGTH AND A LITERACY CRITIC.

The project belongs to the necessity for students to write and increase their creativity, according to the Italian class programme. By letting them work on something as murderers, investigations, secrets and snares could improve their ability of problem solving, of considering every side of a situation, of overcoming the facts as they seem. Tying together texts, students will vote for the best, considering the content, the style, the language, the detective choices.

THE PROJECT: let's introduce our class!

Would you like to know something about our class? Read the presentation and discover what we do! ENJOY IT!

I will write about the Secondary school "Anna Frank" and in particulary about my class, I B, known as the noisiest and the happiest of the school. If you are sad we make you laugh, but pay attention not to over do it, otherwise you risk a lot! We are very friendly, but sometimes our teachers don't like our enthusiasm. Sometimes, during very boring lessons, our jokes don't really make our teachers laugh, but they certainly smile! If someone says a stupid joke, then teachers make fun of him and we all laugh together. We are all very friendly, but some of us make a lot of noise during lessons and we carry on interrupting with stupid jokes. The school year will have finished in three months and I'm very sad because probably some of us won't move up to the next class. In our class there are many foreigners and this is very interesting because we can learn about a lot about the different countries our schoolmates come from.

THE WINNER

That night I was at the police station when the phone rang. A voice claimed that Angus Frank was dead. I ran to  the murder scene and it was terrible: drawers upside down, glasses on the floor, clothes everywhere and, beside the sofa, there was Angus Frank, lying face down. At that moment Angus' ex-fiancè entered the room with some of Frank's ex-colleagues. I immediately interviewed  the housemaid. On Frank's body I didn't notice spots of blood, or any injuries. A glass grabbed my attention, so I took it to the analysis unit.

My suspicions were confirmed: in the glass there were some traces of poison. I returned to the murder scene where I found a piece of paper with words which read: "He was more clever than me, richer than me, more generous than me, taller than me, more handsome, smarter, more self-confident, he dressed better than me, he spoke better than me; if you think these are excuses, you are silly. I have always thought about how to get rid of him. I made a mistake poisoning him: he suffered too much. I am sorry about it. I would have preferred he had died quickly". After I had interviewed everyone, the biggest suspects were the ex-fiancè and the lawyer. I analysed their coats: the lawyer's was marked with black spots. I asked him about them and he answered they were ink blots from a broken pen. In reality, after the analysis, I discovered they were, in fact, spots of poison. So I placed the lawyer under arrest for having killed the victim. "DDDDDDDDDDRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!!"...Oh...sorry! I have to go..the phone is ringing! (MARICA, IB)
